Helene Athanasiadis was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1969. Beginning her career in 1991 as a Fashion Design graduate from RMIT University, Helene worked within various facets of creative fashion that included costume design and photographic styling. In 1999 she took a sudden career change and enrolled in an archaeological degree at La Trobe University graduating in 2006 with a dual honours degree in Archaeology and Art History. Since then she has worked professionally as a technical archaeologist, heritage concept designer and archival photographer of historic objects and places. Helene has also been a practicing and exhibiting artist since 2008 working within the mediums of fine art photography and intaglio (photogravure) printmaking. The common thread of her work is woven from archaeological themes and concepts rendered heavily in nostalgic muted & textured tones. As a heritage designer she works on heritage interpretations that utilise photographic representations and installations of archaeological artefacts and historic themes. This work significantly influences her art practice. Helene currently divides her time between Melbourne and Castlemaine in Country Victoria. EXHIBITIONS
